I'm pulling an all nighter working on my final for my Tech Perspective class and I just made a starbucks run. I gotta say driving stick on nearly no sleep is interesting to say the least, even if only for a few blocks.
If you were wondering I got a Grande Shot In The dark, or A Dark Roast with a shot of espresso

In the not so distant future, you'll just call it "driving" and the number of pedals in the footwell + lever positions won't matter, sleep or no sleep.

Once I was on the phone with my boss while I stopped at Starbucks on the way in to work and she hears my order: "Venti drip, triple shot, no room".
Her: "So, what's in that?"
Me: "That's a Venti drip - 20 ounces of coffee - with three shots of espresso, filled all the way to the top"
Her: Holy shit.
Semi-unrelated qustion: What exactly is taught in a technical perspectives class?

Oh! I thought it was more psychological, e.g. "Some people think technology is good and embrace it fully, whilst others think it's the work of the Devil and shun it, entirely" and was thinking: "How do they fill an entire semester with that?"
Cool.

When I was in NYC this summer I needed to pull an all-nighter, since our flight left at 5 AM anyways. So, I found the nearest Dunkin and ordered the Rob Ford Special, 5 shots of espresso in a cup. It was actually pretty great.

Counter person: How would you like your coffee? Would you like our pumpkin spice white girl special?
You: NO, I WANT IT BLACKER THAN MY SOUL

It is way too complicated to just order coffee nowadays. I try to avoid it, because I don't really like it that much. But whenever I do, the menu always has the most unnecessary shit on it. Yeah, maybe a little vanilla never hurt. But some of the other options are just plain ridiculous.
I switched to night shift, so all the joys of sleep deprivation have just started to set in. And I know sure as hell that I won't be sleeping great during the day, for unknown reasons.

It's perhaps overstating things to say that driving tired is as bad as driving drunk, but not by an awful lot. It may be quasi-legal, but driving after you've been awake too long really isn't the best idea.

Nah, just walked up and asked the guy if he could do it. He said it was against his better judgment, but he'd do it. The source is the Deadmau5's version of Comedians in Cars, with Rod Ford.

I'm quite aware. The starbucks is literally 5 blocks away by residential streets. I didn't go very far specifically because I didn't trust myself

Good that you know that, but if you re-read what you just wrote, I think you might see why what you did wasn't the best of decisions under the circumstances. If you don't trust yourself, even five blocks on residential streets is not a good idea. Not to mention that it's walking distance, so there was no real need to drive.

Pro tip: As someone who couldn't order at starbucks for a long time...I have learned from an ex who was a barista that if you want regular coffee, you order a "pike" in small medium or big.
